Enjoy WinterFest

The VMRC Auxiliary will sponsor WinterFest 7:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb.4 at VMRC. Breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by silent auction, bake sale and other culinary creations. Join us for a  barbecue-plate lunch 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible bus for residents. Activities take place along Main Street in Park Gables.

Construction to begin on new long-term care neighborhood

VMRC broke ground January 5 on Woodland Park -- a new neighborhood of private homes offering supportive care in a residential environment. The first phase of construction will be the completion of three homes to house up to 10 elders each to be completed in December.The first of its kind in Virginia, Woodland Park represents a different model of senior living which enables elders to receive long-term care in a setting which aides and encourages normal patterns of daily living. Woodland Park's unique model emphasizes social interactions and personal relationships in a warm, inviting setting.

Dementia Care topic of free January program

Memory loss can be difficult to understand. And VMRC knows that, which is why Memory Care at VMRC is sponsoring an encore program of “Understanding Memory Loss.”
